Being alongside those in need

Any Christian faith that does not look outside of itself and place itself alongside the vulnerable or those living with difficulties is incomplete. All through the scriptures and in Christian teaching it is clear that Christian people are to have a love and concern for those in need. We are invited to see Christ in the marginalised, the stranger, the poor and abused. We are then asked to serve him in them.

At the Chapel we work closely with two particular Charities. These are West London Churches Homeless Concern and HFT, a Charity that works with those with learning disabilities. In the last year we have also collected funds for the Children's Society and Christian Aid. In 2010 so far we have collected for the Haiti Emergency Fund.

WLCHCEach year Grosvenor Chapel collects food, clothes and toiletries to assist the vital work of West London Churches Homeless Concern. WLCHC provides:

  • London's largest winter night shelter - 35 bed spaces every night between November and April
  • year-round daytime services including laundry, clothing and washing facilities from its base in Chelsea
  • a caseworker service - offering advice, advocacy and practical support to shelter guests
  • information on support services for homeless people in west London
  •

You can help us at the Chapel by donating goods in October and November 2010.

Items we would accept thankfully on behalf of WLCHC include:

    • men's socks and boxer shorts
