Baptisms at the Grosvenor Chapel

Baptism at Grosvenor Chapel

You have received the light of Christ,
Walk in this light all the days of your life.
(from The Baptism Service)

The Grosvenor Chapel is delighted to celebrate the sacrament of baptism for children and adults living in Mayfair and of past and present members of the congregation.

Baptisms normally take place on Sundays at 1pm following the Sung Eucharist at 11am. The chapel rooms are available to hire for receptions following the service and details of catering services are available on request. When receptions take place a later start time is required for the baptism service.

Parents and godparents (there must be at least two who must be baptised themselves and over 17 years old) affirm their faith on behalf of the child and promise to bring the child up as a Christian: that is to follow the teachings of Jesus and continue his work in the community he founded for this purpose, the worshipping community of the Church.

In the first instance, contact the Priest in Charge (0207 499 1684) to arrange a meeting to discuss the baptism. For information about the meaning of Baptism see: http://www.cofe.anglican.org/lifeevents/baptismconfirm/sectionb.html

Baptism receptions at the Chapel

Since we completed the work on the kitchen, Garden Room and patio, known as "Beth's Garden", a number of families have taken the opportunity to hire our wonderful new facilities for a post-baptism reception. The rooms lend themselves to relaxed and intimate get-togethers and this saves the need to travel on to an alternative venue. We are also happy to recommend an excellent caterer. Please enquire at the office for further details.
